Although the general attention given to Trevor by critics and gamers was mostly very positive, he has been criticised by many critics and players because of his violent personality and actions, but has also been praised for fitting in the world of the game. His design and personality have drawn comparisons to other influential video game and film characters. Many reviewers have called Trevor a likeable and believable character, and felt that he is one of the few protagonists in the Grand Theft Auto series that would willingly execute popular player actions, such as murder and violence.
