Civilization VI Errors, Crashes, Bugs and Their Fixes

#1 Civilization VI Sound Issues Fix
There have been many reports about the sound issues users are facing in Civilization VI. Either they can’t hear any sound or it’s too fast for them to hear. In that case, it’s recommended that you try to lower sampling rate for your sound card.

You can do that by clicking on the sound icon on your task bar and choose playback devices. Try choosing 16bit 48000hz and it should work.
#2 Civilization VI Game Does Not Launch
There could be multiple issues behind the game not launching issue. Some users have reported that when press launch, nothing happens. It’s worth mentioning here that the game might take longer than usual when it’s being launched for the first time.

However, if it’s taking forever, you should try the following to resolve the issues:
  • If you are using a laptop, make sure that the game is being run by using the dedicated GPU and not the integrated one. You can choose the preference from your GPU control panel (Nvidia/AMD).
  • Verify you game files and Restart Steam.
  • If you are getting a .dll related error, you should install the files in redist folder of your game.
  • Make sure that your Operating System does not have any pending updates.
#3 Civilization VI How to Disable Auto Unit Cycle
You need to find useroptions.txt file in Documents\my games\Sid Meier’s Civilization VI. Here you need to look for command that says AutoUnitCycle 1. Change 1 to 0 and Auto Unit cycle will be disabled.

#4 Civilization VI Tutorial Bugs
Some users have have reported that they have encountered a couple of bugs specially during the tutorial section of the game. For now, if a restart doesn’t work, you should probably wait for some patch to come out that might address the issue.

#5 Civilization VI Stuck on Copyright Notice
If you are unable to select accept button, it most probably have to do something with your resolution. You should use 16:9 to get past this screen or use the windowed mode to do it. Once in-game, you can switch back to your original resolution.

#6 Civilization VI Missing Executable Issue
First, if you have 32 bit operating system, the game won’t work for you as it only supports 64 bit version. However, if that’s not the issue, you could try this fix.

#7 Civilization VI Black Screen Crash Fix
If you are experiencing a black screen when you try to launch the game, you should make sure that your screen’s resolution is same as that of the game. You could also try running the game in the windowed mode. Some users have also reported that disabling Geforce Experience has done the trick for them.

#8 Civilization VI UI Scaling Bug
Yes, that’s an annoying issue specially when you like that text to be bigger. Currently, there is no workaround for it and we are hoping that the game will patched for this issue in near future.

#9 Realtek Sound Crash Workaround
If you have a built-in Realtek sound card, there are chances that your game might crash randomly. As a workaround for now, you should disable the sound as it seems to have fixed the issue for some. It goes without saying that you should also try updating the drivers for your hardware.

#10 Startup Crash Fix for AMD Users
If none of the above mentioned fixes have worked for you and you are an AMD user, you should disable/uninstall playsTV app from your PC as this seems to have fixed the issue for some.
